Mr. C. C. Robertson, Government grader at Patea, has been temporarily transferred to New Plymoutk.

The Hon. J. D. Ormond, M.L.C., who has been, seriously ill, is now making a. good recovery. He was much improved on Saturday.

Messrs C. E. Bellringer and H. T. Ainsworth, who have represented, the Taranaki Provincial District of Oddfellow* ftt the biennial conference at GreymoutU,' have returned to New Plymouth. / Mr. W. H. Morton, city engineer, of Wellington, has been appointed refresentativo of the New Plymouth Borough Council on the Plumbers' Board.

Mr. S. Percy Smith was last night unanimously re-elected chairman of tits Pukekura Park Board. The chairman uitimated his intention not to seek reelection, but members of the Board spoke in high terms of the Rood work tlipip'by him, and of the keen interest that he took in the Park, and at their urgent requost he reconsidered his decision. In returning thanks, the chairman stated that he had been a member uf the Board for fifteen years, und during the whole period the business of the Board had been conducted most harmoniously.

Mr. C. H. Drew who is 1-iviug for England shortly, prior to enlisting for the front, last night resigned his position as secretary of the Pitkekimi Pirk Bnnrd. Tn accenting the resignation with regret, member* spoke in high terms of Mr. Drew's ability and tact. He was asked not to resign bis seat on the Board, and was granted six months' leave of absence, which will be further extended if necessary . A vote of thanks was also accorded him for past' services. Mr. ft. H, Tribe, a former secretary of the Board, was elected to tliu jiosition, and members expressed themselves as fortunate in obtaining his services.

The New Plymouth Town Clerk makes the following reference to the Council's staff in his annual report:—Having been requested by the Defence Department to undertake certain military duties, I was in January last granted five months' leave of absence, Mr. Wheatley being appointed Acting Town Clerk and Borough treasurer for that period. The change necessitated the temporary appointment of an accountant, and Mr. Frank Baker is now acting in that capacity. A further vacancy on the office staff was filled by tjie appointment of Mr. H. Mace. In my Inst report it waa intimated that two members of the office staff (Mess/a. R. H. Baily ind N. C. Harding) had joined the. Expeditionary Force. It is with very deep regret that I have to record that Mr. Baily subsequently died of wounds received at th« Dardanelles. For several years he rendered very faithful service on the office staff. He was most painstaking and efficient in his work, and we had all hoped bo would have.been spared to return and take up his duties again. Mr, Harding, having been invalided home from the Dardanelles, resumed his duties, and I» now employed on the tramway staff.
