CONFERENCE OP DELEGATT'S REMIT& A conference of delegates of T.iranaki Ffawera, and Stratford brandies of tin? above was lipid in (he Stratford A. and •['; office on Saturday, 2!) th April, at IJ.W o'clock. Present: Messrs. E. Griffiths, H. B. Lepper, C. N. Sampson (Taranaki branch), Messrs J, Nicholson, J. I>, J. O'Donnell, YV. H. Wren (Hawera branch), Messrs. E. J. Kirkwood, P. J. Peterson, J. M. Shotter (Stratford branch). Mr. E. Griffiths was in the [■hair.
The chairman .vclcomed the delegates and outlined the matters to be brought forward for discussion. The conference recommended that the following matters should be brought into approval and adopted by the Dominion Council.
Mr. Upper proposed and Mr. Peterion seconded: "That the New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association is of the opinion that it is in the best interests of the breeders of all live stock that the live stock show in Palmerston North bo a Royal Show, where only prize winners at other shows may compete; and that the Manawatu A. and P. Association be approached, and if found in favor of the proposal, that the New Zealand Jersey Breeders' Association immediately approach other breed Associations and the A. and P, Associations asking their co-operation with a view to bringing the proposal to a successful issue." —Carried.
Mr. Griffiths proposed and Mr. Sampson seconded: "That the N.Z. Jersey Cattle Breeders' Association Council be urged to increase the semi-official classes to eight, viz., one each for junior and senior 2, 3, 4, and 5-year-olds.''—Carried. On the.motion of Messrs. Griffiths and Lepper, it was decided that the Council be directed to have the Jersey matters and interests suitably written up in the Association's official organ, the New Zealand Parmer.
Mr. Kirkwood moved that the Council again circularise breeders, prohibiting the sale of grade bulls. Seconded by the chairman and carried.
It was resolved that the judges' list be cancelled, and the Council appoint new judges for a. period of two years; that the Council be urged to enquire into the use of the tattoo car mark, and if found suitable to enforce the use of same; that the Council be asked to f\\< a penalty for non-compliance of ihe branding of animals before registration.
On the motion of Messrs. Peterson and Griffiths it was' decided that a prize of 25gns. be offered for the first cow to obtain a certificate of record with a production of SSOlbs. or more, of butter-fat.
The chairman thanked the Stratford branch for holding the conference, and expressed a hope that good results would eventuate.
On the motion of Mr. Leppor, seconded by Mr. Peterson, a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr. Griffiths.
