Wut. H. A. Stratford, late headmaster of the Inglewood School, arrived in Inglewrod lant night by the mail train on a few days' leave.

The Rev. P. Copeland, Methodist missionary, who for the past three year* has been in Samoa, returned to Auckland on Tuesday by the Talune. Mr. Copeland has been granted threo months' leave of absence, and will return to Samoa at the end of that time.

The parishioners of St. Mary's Church, at last night's annual meeting, passed a resolution tendering congratulations to Mesdames Skinner and Devenish, two members of the congregation, the former of whom attains her 00th birthday to. day. The htter attained her 88th birth, day on Anzac Day. A quiet wedding was celebrated in the Roman Catholic Bishop's Chapel New Street, Ponsonby, Auckland, on Tuesday morning, April 25th, when Miss Eileen Mary, second daughter of tha Hob. J. A. Tole, was united to Mr. Cyril Osborne, only son of Mr. Edmund Mahoney. Mr. Lambert L. Eaton, late of the Sydney Morning Herald staff, haa been appointed editor of the Fiji Times, in succession to Mr. C. Ferguson, who has left for Australia. Prior to leaving, Mr. Ferguson was entertained by friends in Suva, and presented with a purse of sovereigns, in recognition of his excellent work during the brief period of his stay in Fiji.

Mrs. H. A. Wilson, of Te Kuiti, and third daughter of Mr. T. Furlong, of New Plymouth, died at New Plymouth. yesterday. The deceased lady had been ill for some time, and in January came to New Plymouth for tre&tmeit, 'but all that medical skill and careful nursing could do proved of no avail. Before her marriage Mrs. Wilson was a mine and was closely associated with the New Plymouth Hospital, where she held the position for some time of head nuns. Subsequently she was appointed matron of the Hawera. Hospital. Rev. J. Pattiaon, who hat been in charge of the Stratford Presbyterian Church for the last three years, was, with Mrs, Pattison farewelled by his parishioners on Friday evening, prior to his taking up work in the Somervell Memorial Church, in Auckland. The Forester's Hall was well filled, and Dr. Steven, chairman presented Rev. Mr. Pattison with a cheque for a substantial amount. The speakers were Revs, Tinsley (Methodist), Shore (Hawera), Culliford (tfltham), Rosevcare (New Plymouth), and Adjutant Cook (Salvation Army). All the speakers .referred to the progress made in the church work auring Mr. Pattison's charge. The men; bership aiid finances were noV stronger than they had ever been in the ■ experience of the church. A splendid musical programme was rendered.
