FOOTBALL.
Corpora! Fred Meuli, who left with the Second Reinforcements and was wounded in the landing at (iallipoli and sent to England, where lie recovered and subsequently rejoined his regiment ''somewhere in , writing to a friend in Wnnganui, says:—"We are playing a football competition right through the whole division here. There are 17 teams in the competition, and some great games have been played. Our battalion team (Wellington), has so far not lost a game. Next Thursday we play the Aucklauders, vho have also not lost a game, so we expect a good go, but, of course, nope to win. We have a pretty Hot team Wood (Taranaki) half; C'amerun, also of Taranaki, and Teddy Roberts, live-eight lis; myself centre; Wilson (Rangi Wilson's brother, from the Auckland Northern League, and N.Z. Northern League rep), on one wing, and Frost (a Mastcrton rep.) in the other wing. The forwards are also good —all rep. players, including Reg. Taylor, Taranaki and Xew Zealand wing forward. The South Africans were here last week, and a New Zealand team was goinf, to meet them, but just at the. last moment we got word that they had gone "somewhere," so the game was oil'. This was hard luck, as .ve were looking forward to the match, and I was disappointed, as 1 was picked in the team, and wac quite pleased with myself, as it was an almost ill Black team. Clem Swan, Dug Moore, Fred Hill, and Norman Ashton are all here, and we have a pretty good time now that the parades are only half day."
