N.Z. BUTTER IN LONDON.

JIOW TO REACH CONSUMERS. 'Writing from London on February 'llo the Taranaki daily companies, Mr. fi. Ellison, representative of the Nation Dairy Association, refers to llie Islington Dairy Show,'to be held in October next, in the following tonhs:— ''l understand that there, has been some hesitancy 011 the part of our factories to support this show, due to several causes. The Dairy Show in question is, not, I admit, held at the best time of the year for our purpose; this point, however, we cannot overcome. Two seasons.ago we had a very creditable exhibit of butter and cheese from our Dominion, and having so successfully carried this through on that occasion, is there any reason why we should not do so again? With the object of having the entry forms in your' hands at a mncli earlier date than'hitherto I arranged with the show officials to have them produced for distribution some weeks earlier than usual. I certainly foe] that, having obtained a class for colonial cheese, we should try and support it. I know of. few better methods of advertising our produce than by making use of such channels, apart altogether from the question of winning prizes. Most of our factories take advantage of exhibiting at the Palmerston and other shows," which, of course, is to be commended; but surely it would be better to e.vhibit at the 'London Dairy Show, or at ieast in the country where fl;> per cent, of our cheese is consumed. The fact that a particular factory gets into the prize-list >n a Dominion show does not, from an advertising point of viow, help the factory either in New Zealand or on the London market Our exhibits are more of a local lesson, demonstrating what can be accomplished in the way of manufacturing high-class, goods. Against this a London exhibit is a huge advertisement, placed before the actual consumers of our butter ami cheese.* Would it not be pos* sible to arrange to send on to London part of your exhibit for the Palmerston or Hawera show? Or, failing this, permit me to have an entry made from the last shipment of your cheese for tlje season reaching London. Entries can he made with the office of our Association in Wellington, who will see to the details regarding transit, etc. I earnestly invite your co-operation in this matter."
