FOOTBALL.

WAIMATE CLUB. The annual meeting of the Waimate Football Club was held at Manaia on Saturday evening. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £53 6s Bd. The balance of £95 7s Id from last year had been reduced to £53 Os Bd, a loss of £42 Os 3d on the year's working. Owing to the war, tliey had not only lost for tile time being the services of many of their promising players, but public interest in the game had been lacking throughout, and the receipts from the various sources had not been sufficient to meet the running expenses, so that it was an important question for the meeting to consider what football, if any, should be played during the coming season. The chairman added: The following members amongst others (and to those who may have been omitted we tender due honor and respect) have answered the call of the Empire, and are doing their bit towards upholding its honor and integrity: C. Allison, W. McCook, J. Pine, 0. Young, T. Winters, W. Meuli, B. Gilligan, E. Ganilin, C. Winters, M. Copeland, L. Hunt| L. Walters, C. Hill, 6. Espincr, L. Butler, J. Butler, A. Hansen, J. Hughes, Era, S. Craig, J.. D. Bashford, B, Ryan, A. Gilmour, E. Wells, G. Graham. To all of these fellow-members we wisli the best of luck whilst playing a far more (Jangerous game than football, and a safe and speedy return to our midst. The following officers were elected for the coming season: Patron, Mr. A. G. Bennett; president, Mr. J. S, McKay; vice-president, Messrs Kirk, Brown, Hareourt, and Mclvor; managing com-, mittee, G. Meuli, J. Patterson, E. J. Bourke, J. Christie, M. Lynskey J. S. McKay, G. Ryan; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Bridge. The question of what football should be played during the coming season was left in the hands of the delegate to do as he thinks best at the annual meeting of the Union. 'Mr Geo, Ryan .was appointed delegate to the Taranaki Rugby Union for the coming year It wag resolved that the three local schools be granted a ball each.
