.WELLINGTON WOOL SALE. EXCELLENT PRICES. By Telegraph .—Press Association. Wellington, Fob. ] ">. The third Wellington wool sale of the cm-rent season, which began yesterday, was concluded to-day. The market continued strong, and further -high rates were established. Tho highest price for greasy wool was secured for seven hales of \ery light conditioned Romnev Cross, on account of J. H. Diedrieks (South Westland), it making 19gd. The official range of prices for this sale, compared with the December sale, is as follows:
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, February 12, 1910. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Meat. —There is a good demand for al! descriptions of mutton and lamb, and prices are advancing on account of the decrease in the amount of homekilled, together with the small supply of frozen available for the general public. Mutton. —Canterbury 7%d per lb for light weight, medium 7 1 /od, other brands than Canterbury not quoted officially. There are only a few selling at 7y s d for best quality light weight. Ewes, average price, 7 1-lGd. Lamb.—Canterbury, 8d per lb for all weights, second grade 7Jd, other brands than Canterbury 8d for best quality, ordinary quality 7 7 /g(l. Beef.—Only New Zealand cow beef available. Hinds GJd, fores Ski; chilled, a moderate supply, hinds 7y»d, fores ay 4 d. Buttcr.--The market is quiet but firm. Danish, market firm, with an upward tendency, per cwt, 158s to 1625; New Zealand, spot market is very firm. Mamari's butter is not yet available; 152s to 1545, unsalted 160s to 168s, fair to good quality 146s to 150s, Australian 14Gs to 14Ss, Siberian 124s to 130s, Argentine 142s to 14'4s. Cheese. —The market is firm. Canadian. quiet, white and colored, per cwt. 07s: United States, Cheddar shapes, 96s to 975. flats !)5s to 965; English Cheddar 102s to 104*, Cheshire 114s to 118s. Hemp.—"Manila, rather less active this week owing to heavy receipt figures. The output from Manila for the week ended 12th. inst. was 2.3,000 bales. The estimate for the next two weeks is 52,000 bales. Freight, difficulty still acute, and sellers are not pressing. February to April shipment: Manila, new. graded fair, £55 10s; New Zealand, market quiet, hut steady at last quotations. Dominion offerings are very small. The stock oil January 31 was 611 tons. Wheat.—Firm market. Prices have advanced. In Australian wheat, 675, sailer about 88s, steamer (19s; Argentine, February shipment, (17s 9d; American sailer, G!)s: Canadian. 675, direct. American and Canadian offers are scarce on account of the freight difficulty. Oats.—The demand has improved, though still small. Offers are scarce. Argentine, afloat, 31s 6d to 32s 6d, according to position. Hops.—The market is quiet. Prices are firm. English, per ewt, 130s to 150s; Califovnian, 95s to 115s. These quotations are for 1915 hops. Wool.—The market remains firm.
