FRENCH RED CROSS.
APPEAL IN NEW, PLYMOUTH, A street and house-to-house collection on behalf of the French Red Cross will be made in New Plymouth on .Saturday week, the 2(itli inst. February 25 is French Tricolor Day, and the occasion is to be marked by collections throughout New Zealand, but Saturday has been fixed for New Plymouth as being a more suitable day than a Friday. The movement originated with the Auckland French Club. Already letters expressing warm gratitude for remittances despatched from New Zealand have been received from the French Government and from the secretary of the French Red Cross Society in Paris. Various patriotic societies have associated themselves with the committee of the Auckland French Club, with a view to raising a fund to be forwarded, which will be worthy of New Zealand. The collection in New Plymouth is being organised by the St. John Ambulance Sreiety and the local branch of tho British Red Cross. A meeting of all those, willing to assist will be held in the. Town Hall to-morrow, at 7.30 p.m. Anyone who is desirous of helping but who is unable to attend the meeting should acquaint either Mrs, Dockrill or Mr, A. B. Gibson.
