NORTH TARANAKI PATRIOTIC LEAGUE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Yesterday. The weekly meeting of the above League was held in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, his Worship the 'Mayor presiding. The lion, secretary of the Wellington Military Hospital Guild wrote asking whether the League was desirous of being represented at a meeting in connection with hospital work, to be held in Christchurch.—The secretary is to be informed that the League would like the Hospital Guild's representative (Mrs. Luke) to also represent Waitara. A letter was received from the secretary of the Countess of Liverpool Fund, asking if the League would send two delegates to attend a meeting of Patriotic Societies, who are working at soldiers' equipment, which is being held on March I.—lt was decided to inform the secretary that Mrs. Luke would represent the League. The hon. secretary of the Lepperton- : Sentry Hill branch wrote challenging a team of eight from the Waitara district to pull in a tug-of-war at the patriotic gift auction on Thursday, March 16. The challenge was accepted.

It was decided that the Tourist Ticket Art Union be drawn on Saturday, February 10. at the Carnival. Tile matter of Private G. SofiVs mess allowance was again brought before the meeting, and it vrs decided to refer the matter to the Base Records Office. ILr. Buchanan's motion to rescind the forming of an executive was brought before tlie meeting and was rejected. GENERAL. A "round robin" was sent to the chairman of the local sclioo) committee by the scholars of the public school, asking the committee to reconsider their decision in not allowing the school their usual annual picnic. The children eagerly look' forward to these picnics, and are hoping the petition will be favorably considered. A party, consisting of the Sunflower Entertainers and others, made the trip to the Mountain last Saturday evening. Eight of their number started out on Sunday morning and succeeded in reaching the top. The arrangements for the Carnival are now well in hand, and a record attendance is anticipated.
