Edcnburgh favors a discriminating Customs tariff to prevent dumpinjr. Walsall advocates the prohibition of imports from enemy countries for a quinquennium.

Ridden was fined L'.H'i'l, \V. V. Rigden was sentenced to twolv.; months' imprisonment. and Stanley Hidden received four montlis' imprisonment. (A London cable, dated January 1[) ; stated: William Gurden Rigden, William Fownes Rigden, and Stanley I'owneRigden, partners in the glove linn of Fownes Brothers, have been charged with trading with the enemy. Counsel stated that correspondence' had been found showing that defendants, who bad a branch in New York owned by a German company, imported from Xew York German goods valued at £BOOO, promising to pay after the war, paving additional interest and promising big orders. The accused were remanded 011 bail 01" £2OOO each.)
