SUCCESSFUL TRIAL RUNS. During the a f ternoon other ears were run through tlie town, and in every, ease the car, ran «itliorn. the slightest, hitch. The splendid appearance of the trams drew favorable comment, and a visitor from Wellington. who rode in one of the cars expressed the opinion that they were more comfortable than those in Wei. bngton. '
Speaking to a News reporter, Mr F Black, the consulting engineer, said' he was very pleased with the trial runs ot the oan, which had given ovory Batrn* faction. Asked as |o when it would lie possible to commence a service, Mr Black said that some of the machinery had not yet arrived from England, mul until this machinery was working it would be impossible 'to run g Rervice of any kind. As no advice had been received of (he movements cf i||j, machinery lie was unable to s ny when |{ would be installed, ami when the trami could be started.
