Following is Mr. Bates' weather forecast: — Present indications are for east to south-east winds, strong to gale and squally, with unsettled and colder weather generally. Heavy rain is probable in northern and east coast districts, passing showers elsewhere. The barometer will fall in the north, but is due to rise everywhere shortly.
