BOWLING.
The latest addition to the list of bowling dubs in Taranaki is the Okato Club, the official opening of whose green took place on Thursday afternoon. For some time past bowling enthusiasts in the coastal township have enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. V. Roebuck, wlip laid down three rinks a couple of years ago. This year, however, a club .has been formed, with Mr. F. Roebuck as president, Mr. d. S. Fox vice-president and Mr. \V. C. Franks secretary. Mr. Roejbuck placed -bis green at the disposal of the club. Tne club starts with twenty members, and sixteen were present at the opening. Several of them have a good knowledge of the game, whilst others are novices, but take a keen interest. The green was declared open by the president in a. happy speech, and an enjoyable afternoon's bowls was spent. The club intends to affiliate with the Association as soon as it feels its feet, and will then challenge outside clubs; meantime visiting bowlers passing through Oknto will be gladly welcomed on the green. The Okato Club intend later on to lay down a green alongside the tennis courts, where sufficient ground has been reserved.
