A London cable states that General Smith Dorrien (who has resigned the East African command) is suffering from severe influenza and relapse. Mr. .T. E. Wilson, chairman of the Tnranaki War Relief Association, has been appointed delegate to represent the ICgmont Patriotic League at the conference which is to be held in Wellington on the 17th inst. Sir Robert Stout (Chief Justice)), Dr. Hay (Inspector of Prisons), Mr. C. IS. Jordan (Under-Secretary for Justice) and Mr. G. Fonwick (Danedin) arrived in Xew Plymouth on Saturday night in connection with the sitting of the Prisons Board to-day.
