ADELA PANKHURST. JOIN'S THE ANTI-MILITARISTS. Melbourne, Dec. 29. There was a rowdy meeting in the Bijou Theatre when Miss Adela Pankhurst, under the auspices of the Socialists, was attempting to deliver a lecture on "Shall Men Enlist?" Sold'ers 'n the audience counted out gii la who were singing "I did not raise my boy to bo a soldier." A returned wounded soldier clambered on to the platform and partially restored order. The chairman ordering him off was the signal for the soldiers to rush the platform and take charge of the meeting. After singing patriotic songs, amidst the shouts of the Socialists, they eventually allowed Miss Pankhurst to deliver the lecture. During the final singing of the National Anthem the Socialists in the audience were silent and did not remove their hats.
