Mr. Stefansson has cabled to the Daily Chronicle from Banksland saying that the North Star sailed on August 4, in command of Captain Milkins (a South Australian), her destination being Prince Patrick or Melville Island, via Cape Prince Alfred. The Polar Bear also sailed. Stefansson is commanding the northern expedition, which will have a hundred dogs, and the equipment is the best since that of the Karluk. He considers lie should finish the exploration oj !Tic westward of the 145 th meridian, and expects to return south in 1914
