ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

RUN DOWN BY A MOTOR-CAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dannevirke, Yesterday. The coroner's inquiry into the death of Glenville Barclay, who was found dead on Miller's Road on Wednesday evening, found a verdict that death was due to a fracture of the skull, caused by being struck by a motor-car driven by some person unknown, whilst deceased was under the influence of liquor. Evidence showed that deceased, on the evening on which he was killed, was found lying on the road inebriated. He explained to his discoverer that he had been drinking to drown his sorrow, having sent one son to the Dardanelles and another into camp with the Maori Reinforcements. This was before he was found later on dead.
