ANOTHER GOOD I>KKFOR.MAN T OB. That "The Mikado" ha.s caught on with the play-going public, of Xew Plymouth, and that tin- Opciatic Society has "made good" in this fascinating whimsical gem for dispelling dill! care, was manifest last night, when a crowded house greeted the performers with unstinted appreciation and applause. The minor delects that were noticeable ou 'Tuesday night had been remedied, and as a result the opera went with a lilt and merry vim from rise to tall of the curtain. The whole production last mght was most enjoyable, and was distinctly creditable to all concerned. The lady principals again scored the successes of the evening, and a number of iloral tributes were bestowed on them. -Miss Peart's acting and singing was again the feature of the evening, and the trio of schoolgirls—Missus 1. and V Gilbert anil K. Bennett, acted vivaciously and were most successful in their vocal items. Mr. E. % Clark, as Nanki Poo, gave a much improved interpretation than on the first night, and scored both in singing and acting, while Messrs Haslam, Gray, McLMarmid and Broome wcro all successful in their roles. The ballet at the end of the first art bv six- young Indies was insistently applauded', and throughout the evening encores were numerous. The work of the chorus wa, especially bright and vrisp, and the orchestra could not have been improved upon. The opera will be repeated to-night Tor the last time, and there should be a oumpcr house, m>t only for the fact 11. u the profits from the production are fo i ■ devoted to the Wounded Soldiers' r'.K' The public should also bear in mind tlithe Society deserves every support and encouragement that can be giv*n it.
