TRENTHAM.

GIVING MINISTERS A REST. THE CAMP IMPROVING. (By Wire—Special to News,) ' . Wellington, Last Night. The flood of questions which has been pouring upon the Ministers with regard to Trentham camp and the troops was stayed to-day. Members are realising it would seem, that jaded and worried Ministers should not be pressed too far, and thev arc waiting for the official information that the Government has promised to provide regarding tho reasons for the removal of the troops. The whole subject has 'been placed sub judice to a certain extent bvj the setting up of the Royal Commission of Inquiry. It i» admitted, unofficially, now that a specific disease, apart from the measles and influenza, was discovered at the caijtp, and that the discovery led to the sudd.crt decision tti send the troops to fresh quarters. The precautions that hive been taken 1 since last week indicate that the authorities f<>ar infection, but one gathers that the trouble is less serf- # ons than it was at first believed to be. The sixth infantry reinforcements have been left at Trentham camp, and ap- ' parently it is intended that they should stay there altogether. The other troops are likely to be moved back to Trentham as the days grow longer and the weather improve?. The question of who is to blame for the undoubtedly bad conditions that prevailed at the camp until quite recently is another matter that must be left to the decision of the Royal Commission.
