MAYOR AND COUNCIL.
DOMINATIONS RECEIVED. CAXDOATES FOR OTHER BODIES. To-niorrow week will be a day of elections throughout New Zealand. Every city and town will elect its Mayor and the councillors that will support him, while on the same day the members of such other bodies as harbor boards and hospital and charitable aid boards will be elected. Nominations closed yesterday at New Plymouth. The Mayoralty will be contested, for Mr. ,T. E. Wilson, the retiring Mayor, and Mr. G. W. Browne, a former Mayor, have come forward, hut as only twelve gentlemen have been nominated for the council no elections will be necessary. For the Harbor Board there will also be no election, hut there will be a contest in connection with the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, five candidates having been nominated for three seats. IN OTHER PLACES. Wanganui, April 10. Messrs E. N. Lifliton, C. E. Maekay, and T. B. Williams were nominated for the Mayoralty to-day. There are fifteen nominations for the twelve seats on the Borough Council. Dannevirke, April 19. Mr. E. A. Ransom has been elected Mayor unopposed for the fourth year in succession. There are fifteen nominated for nine council vacancies. Palmerston North, April 19. Mr. J. A. Nash (present Mayor) and Mr. F. J. Nathan are candidates for the Mayoralty. There are fourteen nominations for nine council seats. Wellington, April 19. Interest in local bodies' elections is increasing. Messrs John P. Luke (the present occupant), Robert Fletehor, M.P., and Charles H. Chapman are nominated for the Mayoralty of Wellington. There are 28 candidates for the 15 seats on the City Council, the same number for fourteen seats on the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, and ten for the four scats on the Harbor Board representing city ratepayers.
