A communique received in Berlin from tha headquarters in France states that the enemy's violent attacks eastward of Soiaeon were repulsed with heavy fight- , ing. RATHBR TOO 'AMBITIOUS. FRANCE TO BE PARTITIONED AND CRUSHED. Paris, October 14. _ M. Clcmenccau, on unimpeachable authority, publishes a report of a conversation between the German Ambassador at Washington and a wealthy GermanAmerican. The latter aaked: "What will Germany do with France?" The Ambassador replied: "We shall take all her colonies and the territory eastward of the line St. Valery-en-Caux and Lyons, impose a war indemnity of 400 millions sterling, get a treaty allowing free entry of all German goods to France for 25 years without reciprocity, no recruits to be levied in France for 23 years. We shall transfer to Germany three million rifles, 5000 cannon, 40,000 horses, and fill German patent rights iu France without reciprocity. France will he compelled to sign an alliance with Germany." The Ambassador added: "Germany would buy Russia and crush England, whereupon England would turn against Rusia and appeal to Germany for kelp." (The slice of .France referred to runs from the mouth of the Somme, Bouth of Boulogne, to Lyons, in the south-east of France. It either includes Paris or runs just outside it.) It transpires that arrangements.were made with a leading German kinematograph firm to take a gigantic film recording the Kaiser's entry into Paris. The retreat from the Marne disorganised the scheme.
