BOROUGH COUNCIL. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The usual monthly meeting of the above Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday night. There were present: His Worship the Mayor, Crs. Gibbs, Fawcett, Tarplee, Taylor, Spurdle and Parkin.

It was resolved that the Mavor. Crs. j Gibbs and Taylor be appointed to fix the seal to all borough leases; that the council keep in repair all notices placed at public crossings, provided such a,e installed by the Railway Department; that the matter of tightening bolls at the Town Hall he left in the hands of the Hall Committee with power to act; that the matter of asphalting round the Post Ollk-e be left in the hands of the works committee.

The Mayor's report on Hie workings of the genera! and electric light committee was approved of. The overseer reported that the septic tank intake tuune! and scours had been attended to as usual: that tlie house to house inspection of the town was nearly completed, and that there was nothing so far to complain about; that the kcrbing and channelling of Stamlish street, also the formation of Carrington street, were being pushed on with; that the balance of the metalling of Majrie street would have to be held over till summer; that the metalling in front of Town Hall had been completed.
