| PUKE HO AND TAT? AT A. I (From Our Own Correspondent). The Pukeho School was packed -by the parents, children and committee on Friday night, May 1, to say farewell to Mr. I l '. J. Eggieton, their teacher, who has left the district. The farewell was in the form of a euchre party and dance. Miss Ouildford won the lady's first prize and Mr. J. Simmons the gent's;. Mr. 11. Lambert, chairman of School Committee, then called on Mr. Kggletoii, and on behalf of the School Committee, parents and children, presented him with a very handsome suit case. He expressed great sorrow at losing Mr. Egglelon, ami"saiil one had only to look at the school two years ago and now, and it would, sneak for itself. Mr. Eggleton had taken great interest in the children. His improvement in beautifying the school grounds, also inside the sciWd, his agricultural plots and swimming class, were a, credit to him. The pupils hud made very rapid progress under his tuition, ami one and all were very sorry* to part with Mr. Eggleton. lie wished Mr. and Mrs. Eggleton every success wherever their future lot might be cast. In replying', Mr. Eggleton thanked them all very heartily for the valuable present. It was very niee to hear all the kind things said about himself, but after all he Jiad only done his duty. It had all been u pleasure to liir/i. lie felt very keenly the fact of leaving the children and district. He thanked the committee and parents for the cordial relationship that had always existed between them and himself, thereby making a teacher's duty a pleasure! to is:ni. In closing, Mr. Kggleton wished one and all every success and happiness, and said lie would look uj.'on their very valuable present with fond remembrance. Three cheers were then heartily given for Mr. and Mrs. Eggleton. Dancing was kept up t;ll an esi'iv hour iu [lie u'.orn'ng, and everyone had a very ciijiyab'e. evening. At a sofml lipid by tin' Tavfitn Tennis Club, Mr. I'. Chapman, on behalf of the leniiis Club, presented ,\ir. Eggleton with a nicely-bound por-ket-bock and purse, and aisn a fountain pen. Mr. Eggleton, lie said, was always willing to help the club along in every way possible, and always supplied the music for the club's socials.
