LANDS ENQUIRY.

TO IMPROVE BAD TENURES, The Prime Minister (The Right Hon. W. F. Massey) informed a Dominion reporter the other day that that he proposed to institute an inquiry with the object of bringing about an improvement in tho tenures under which lands in certain districts are now offered to settlers. The districts in Which the trouble chiefly occurs are Westland, Thames, Rotorua, and Te Aroha. Some of the land affected is actually settled undtr the bad tcnure3, but much of it remains unsettled because of the bad tenures, and (Mr. Massey states) the object of the inquiry unll be to discover a way of improving the unsatisfactory state of things. One of tho objectionable tenures is what is known as the mining occupation lease.
