Mr Asquith, replying to a deputation of Commoners, promised to submit to Cabinet the suggestion that the Government should erect a special pavilion, which would be a rallying point for Britishers from all parts of the Empire, and intimated that Cabinet was likely to consent, oe it would not commit the Government to much expenditure. He deprecated the suggestion that Britain's refusal to participate in the Exposition was a slight to the United States.
