"I am glad to be able to say that the finances of this country are in a satisfactory position," said the Prime Minister, when speaking at Alliatiy on Saturday. For the month of March, 1913, the excess of withdrawals over deposits was ,£7(i,(i2o. For the quarter ending March, 11)14, the deposits exceeded withdrawals by £2111,148, while for the quarter ending December, 1013, the excess of deposits over withdrawals was £73,'247. For the quarter ending March, 1913, the withdrawals exceeded deposits by £57,091." Mr. Massey proceeded to state how the recent 4'/ 2 million loan was subscribed live times over, a fact which Showed the high opinion in which New Zealand was held hy the people of England. "The Whole country sems to ibe « hive of industry," concluded Mr. Masscv.
