Tn-.ri, according to the elwirman of the New Plymouth Harbor Boar,), means «, Joss of £lul)0 per annum to the local Board, and the subject gave rise to a short discussion at the meeting of the New Plymouth Harbor Board yesterday. Mr. J. B. Coimett, chairman, said the Government showed a profit on the working of the railways, hut this was not to be wondered at when it was considered that no wharfage fees were paid on coal handled for the Railway Department, 'inere was no reason why the Government coal should be free. He understood that other Harbor Boards were dissatisfied with the condition of affairs in this respect, and considered that the New Plymouth Board should support any movement which would lead to the Government paying wharfage on its coal. Mr. Wilkinson, M.P., agreed with the chairman. The matter will probably be. brought before the next conference of Harbor Boards.
