Harry Floyd, in an interview, said Arnst at his best was the greatest sculler that Australasia had ever had. Paddon was very awkward, and was possibly the worst waterman that had ever left Australia. Ho was naturally topheavy and inexperienced in rough water, and might find difficulties on the Thames. Nevertheless, he was deceptive, for ho got more pace than was apparent.
