WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. (From Our Own Correspondents). At the monthly, meeting of the nhove Board, the clerk reported that Messrs French and Lepper had been elected members, Mr .), Connett having withdrawn his nomination. The above two members, with Messrs Surrey and Turnbull, were present at the meeting. Mr T. French was elected chairman for the ensuing year. Correspondence was read from the Advances Office, notifying if a special rate were struck over the IClsham Road pecial Eating District to cover interest and instalments amounting to £3 19s per annum, the loan of £SO would be granted. From the Railway Department, stating that it was not the intention of the Department to give the exclusive right of taking metal from the Sentry Hill pit to any local bodj'. From the Moa Road Board, forwarding price-list of concrete pipes. From Mr J. Connett, advising that he would be pleased to act as the Board's representative at the sittings of the Assessm--"* Court. From Mr W. A. Brown, requesting the Board's permission to fence in a portion of Sisson Terrace. Surfaceman Palmer reported that he had been engaged in formation on York Road, and the work authorised on Te Arei Road leading to Mr Baer's property had also been completed, Mr Baer and the natives assisting. Mr Coleman had repaired the damage done in carting metal over the Tate Road, and he had arranged with Mr t\ Andrews to cart the necessary filling for the road leading to the Huirangi School. Surfaceman Giddy reported that the timber by Mangawera Bridge had been stacked, the bridge on Richmond Road repaired, and a portion of the Richmond Road formed, Mr Hall doing the ploughing. Resolved that a charge of Is per yard lie made for all sand taken from" the Richmond Road pit; also that the chairman be authorised to affix the seal of the Board to the agreement re taking metal from the Railway pit at Sentry Hill. The resolution striking a special rate of seven sixteenths of a penny in the Elt'ham road, special rating area was passed* The balance-sheet for the year ended March 31st was read by the clerk, the receipts, general account, including a balance of £341 from last year, amounting to £948, the chief items being rates £44!), Government subsidy £125, and donations £27. The expenditure on roads and bridges was £383, printing, advertising and stationery £l2, salary £3O, leaving a balance of £3Ol to be carried forward.—Resolved that the balance-sheet as read be passed, subject to audit. Mr Lepper was authorised to get the necessary repairs to hill on Corbett Road done.
Accounts amounting to £2O were passed for payment, and the Board adjourn-
