HOCKEY.
NEW PLYMOUTH (9) v. TATARAIMAKA (2). On Saturday a team of hockey players journeyed out to Tataraimaka, where they engaged in a friendly game. The town players had a somewhat easy win by 0 goals to 2, although the score does not truly represent 'the merits of the opposing' sides. New Plymouth players had the advantage of experience with them, while the country lads had plenty of dash, and were ia good training. For the winners Osborne (3), Okey (2), Bailden (2), Rev. Mr. Robson and S. Weller scored, while Meredith and Bain found the net for Tataraimaka. After the game, the ladies very kindly provided tea, which was greatly enjoyed. LADIES' MATCHES. Whakatika A journeyed to Tikorangi lon Saturday, and after a strenuous contest defeated Ngatimaru bv 2 goals to 1. Early in It'he game *M. McEwen scored from a penalty bully for Whakatika, and there was no alteration un- ' til about five minutes from call of time when V. Lye found the- net for the home team. Just on time the visitors attacked, and L.Mouat pushed through scoring the winning goal. Mr. S. p£„i carried thi» whistle. Whakatika B beat High School B br 2 g»als to 1 on the Racecourse. 0 Airibury and E. Montcath scored for the winners and M. Mouat for the school. Mr. H. Johnson referecd.
