Received 22, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, June 21. ■Schmidt, a candidate for the position of teacher, apparently went insane, and entered the grounds of a Catholic school at Bremen. He shot two girls dead and wounded six others and also the teacher. When arrested, six revolvers were found in his possession. Schmidt first entered a room which contained sixty-five young girls. He shot wildly, killing three and wounding ten. The schoolmaster jumped on the assassin's back, but was mortally wounded. Schmidt then ran into the playground and wounded live bovs.

An infuriated crowd of parents and others captured and beat Schmidt insensible before he was rescued by the police
