TERRITORIAL GYMKHANA.
AT HAWERA. Arrangements for the forthcoming gymkhana, to be held on the 26th inst., on the Show Grounds, Hawera, are well in hand, and the. meeting, promises to be a particularly attractive gathering. The Territorials and Cadets are practising assiduously, and the various teams and companies are putting in good work. Territorials and Cadets there are who feel certain their muscles are expanding daily, preparing for the good old tug-'of-war, for which silver.medals suitably inscribed will be given. The Association are offering challenge trophies for company and teams events, any of which will be worth a little training on the part of the Territorials. A silver cup will be given for the best turned-out mounted man with troop horse which has been through one or more camps, the horse not necessarily to be the property of the rider. There will be much music and rivalry in the bugling competition, and the mounted jumping over the usual Show Ring jumps will be well contested. The secretary (Mr. Treweek) has received intimation of competitors from all along the line, Cadets being particularly strong in numbers. Free railway passes will be granted to | those competing, on application to the Officer Commanding, No. 8 Area Group, Defence Office, Hawera. There will be a good muster of Territorials mounted, some of the companies being instructed to parade on that day, which will bo counted a whole-day parade. All entries close on Saturday next with Mr. Treweek.
