OLD AGE PENSIONS.
FIGUBES FOE THE YEAR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, May 29. The gross payments for old age pensions for 1912-13- were £415,760 as against £400,256 in the previous year. The net payments, after deduction of refunds and with the credit from the endowment fund, totalled £397,069. The number of claims lodged last year was 2440, against 2975 in the previous year, and the number granted 2086 against 2318. Pensioners who died numbered 1557, and the cancellations were 633. The decrease in old age pensions this year is due to the fact that 355 old age pensions have boon cancelled by being converted into military pension?. The gross payments under the healing of ■widows' pensions totalled .£22.111. The number of claims lodged was (HiO. Of 791- claims for military pensions lodged 585 were granted. The prospeeti.vo liability for the-eurrent vear exceeds £20.000.*
