BURGLARY IN BRISBANE.
■ A SENSATIONAL INCIDENT. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Brisbane, May 27. The proprietor of a hotel' reported that his safe had been robbed by burglars of £CO. Detective Head and Constable Scanlon met the Brisbane train at Toowoomba and tackled a suspect, who fled from the platform, keeping the officers covered with a revolver. Scanlon dashed in and struck him with an umbrella and then fell. Head continued in pursuit, and after a desperate struggle secured the man, who had a fully-loaded revolver.
The Lieutenant-Governor, Sir A. Morgan, and hundreds of the passengers watched the chase, and cheered the officers, Sir A. Morgan lifting his hat and adding, "They are good men." The man arrested also congratulated them on their bravery, saying they had faced wnat he would not. The missing money was found in his possession.
