EMPLOYERS' ASSOCIATION.
THE HOLIDAY QUESTION. At a meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Employers' Association, it was decided to recommend that business people close their premises. on Thursday, June 3rd, King's Birthday, and that the usual Thursday halfholiday on June 5 be observed. It was also decided that the Association recommends that the tradespeople of New Plymouth be requested to adopt the recommendations of the executive committee controlling the arrangements of the visit of the H.M.S. New Zealand. These are as follows: "That the business people of New Plymouth be asked to close their business premises on the 17th proximo, between the hours of twelve noon and five p.m., re-opening at the latter hour to enable visitors to obtain any parcels or to make late purchases." The Association recommends that Thursday lfltli, the half-holiday, be observed as usual. It was decided to call a meeting of all retailers for Wednesday, May 28. 'at 4.30 p.m., in the Town Hall, to confirm the foregoing recommendation of the Association re holidays.
