THE NEWMARKET ELECTION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. London, May 18. The by-election for the Newmarket seat to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Sir C. D. Rose (Liberal), resulted: Sir J. Pender (Unionist) 5257, Mr. G. Nicholls (Liberal) 4400. Mr. Nichblis attributes his defeat to Unionist misrepresentation and the Insurance Act. Sir J. Pender declared that his victory was dde to the dislike of the Insurance Act. [The figures at last election were:— Sir C. D. Rose 4780, Mr. G. H. Verrall 4387.]
