Griffiths and Co. are in receipt of the following market report { from their London principals, Messrs. Mills and Sparrow, dated London, March 2Sth, 1913: Butter.—'General business has been <;uiet throughout the week. Weather ■ onditions have remained dull and c-heor- - less with a fair amount of rain. The ' general trend of the market is that choice goods are met with a fair inquiry, but secondary quality of all descriptions are a dull sale. Australian. —There has been a scarcity , of choice goods, and these have fully . -maintained last week's prices. The premium on unsalted continues, and really best grades are scarce. Once more we would advise our colonial friends to do everything they possibly can to properly grade their cream so as to work up to* a higher standard of quality. The increase in the consumption of margarine 1 in this country is making it increasingly difficult to sell poor flavoured butter, and the prospects are that best and common goods will be very much farther .. apart in price than they have been during the past few years. •• .iNftvV -Zealand.-^-llie-re is very little of--fering-owing to the Turakina not hav- ' -ing. arrived, and prices are fully main- • 'tain'ed. We hear that the cargo in the < .s-.s. Turakina is not all absolutely des-;■-strayed,'but that the vessel is leaving on the l'fith; of April under her own steam, and that the butter is more or less rancid, and the, cheese more or less soft, so that the question of insurance will now.have to.lie deferred until such goods or what is left of them, come to hand. We. do -not.hear that any of the goods have heen jettisoned, cxJepting about ~i' 30$) cj'.at.QS of.'Cheese which were landed i; :aj!;R : ip 'd.e Janeiro, and are coming along ii i-foAondpn. per/„5.»..
