Pelleticr announced that a h've years' contract had been arranged with the Poulsen wireless Transatlantic system at cut rates enabling Australia and New Zealand to benefit as well as Canada. He explained that the British postmaster was not ready to lay a new Governmentowned Transatiantfc cable, hence Canada had decided to arrange for a wireless service at a rate of four hnudred letters per minute, guaranteed. Code messages would be charged eight pence and plain language messages four pence per word. Press ordinary messages would be charged two pence per word. The syndicate's head office will be at Montreal, whence messages will be placed upon the Pacific cable direct to Australia and New Zealand. The Canadian board controlling the rates would sanction a reduction if No subsidy would be given. M. Pelletier added that the Pacific Board would soon find it necessary to lay a new Transatlantic cable.
