THE ROWING CONFERENCE.

THE AMATEUR DEFINITION. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Adelaide, April 20. The Inter-State Rowing Conference passed a motion that the New Zealand Rowing Association be informed that if their amateur definition is altered in accordance with the definition under which the inter-State races are rowed, there will be no obiection to the admission of New Zealand crews to row in championships in Australia, provided the States of the Commonwealth are thereby placed under no obligation to send crews to New Zealand. The mover withdrew from the above motion a clause proposing that there was no objection to footballers rowing as amateurs, provided they receive no money for their services, on the ground that football was regarded as a game, not as an athletic exercise. 1
