DISTRICT NEWS.
LEPPERTON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At a general meeting of those interest* ed in Hall matters, held last Thursday evening, it was decided to hold the annual ball on Thursday, May 15. A strong committee was set up to deal with the matter, and devotees of the terpsichorean art may look forward to receiving their invitation cards shortly Mrs fieorge'a orchestra has been engaged, a sufficient guarantee of excellent music. There should be no long waits for supper this time, as the additions to the supper room are to be, placed in hand at once. It la expected that over seventy will be accommodated at the tables at ose time. I regret to have to record the death of Mr. F. K. Harrold, nn old resident of the district. Mr. Harrold had not been in good health for some time. Nevertheless, his death came as a shock to the community. , Things are slackening in dairy circle*. The local factory is to commence running on alternate days shortly. The first euchre party and dance is to be held in the Hall next Thursday, May 1. Nearly fifty new books have been added to the local library. It is proposed to add new books periodically, instead of buying them all at once as heretofore. The library will thus always be supplied with some, at any rate, of the newest books.
The annual meeting of the congregation nt St. Mark's Church was held last Tuesday evening, the Rev. Mr. Harrison presiding Finances are in a satisfactory' state. During the year, new communion vesselg had been procured from England. Mrs. Lepper, who had .been superintendent of the Sunday School for seven years, had resigned, and a resolution of thanks for her services was passed with acclamation. Mr. has taken up. her duties. During the evening items were given by Miss Honnor (pianoforte solo), Mesdames Clarke and Wheatley (violin and piano duet), Mr. Luke (recitation), and Mr. Heppel (song). The ladies of the Methodist Church are preparing for a sale of work to be held early in July.
