The Germans deny that they provoked the Nancy incident. The crowd hustled the train and kicked and spat upon tliem. Nobody interfered until the stationmaster cleared the carriage, remarking, "Now, then, you've had enough fun."
AX OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Paris, April IS.
The Matin states that General Ogier who was appointed to enquire into the trouble between Frenchmen and Hermans' at Nancy, reports that the Frenchmen did not strike the Germans, but insulted them. The Government intends to punish the officials tor not protecting the Germans, and is also prohibiting offensive plays in frontier towns.

The ■ Government lias dismissed two policemen at Nancy station, and is reorganising the Nancy police. The Prefect has been transferred to another department for neglect to report the incident. The German Ambassador has been notified of the dismissals.
