INTERVIEW WITH MR. ALLEN,
A•■PE UMA SENT POLICY.
By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 17, 9.40 p.m. London, April 17.
The Hon. Jus. Allen, interviewed before • starting for Canada to-day, said that the War Oflice had been most sympathetic, and had given him the best advice concerning the expeditionary force. lie also discussed with the Admiralty and the Committee of Imperial Defence concerning New Zealand's adoption of a permanent policy of naval defence. The information lie had acquired was of the greatest value in pointing out to the New Zealand Government what policy ought to be adopted. His ideal was that New Zealand's policy should, be co-ordinated with the Admiralty's and Australia's. He added that he had found that everyone wants closer relations of the various parts of the Empire, but he did not think that everyone here understands the situation as it presents itself to the New Zealander and the Australian. It was a great pity that more Imperial statesmen cannot visit New Zealand and Australia.
