.GERMAN MERCHANTS MOBBED.

The newspapers indignantly point out that six German merchants were mobbed at the railway station at Nancy, insulted, attacked with sticks and lists, and imprisoned in the waiting room. The crowd apparently mistook them for disguised Prussian officers. Germans have previously been boohed at, and a burlesque on the German Army presented at a local theatre. The newspapers complain that French officers were present at the station, but did not interfere with the violence of the mob.
GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIONS,
Berlin, April 15. There is growing irritation at the
Nancy affair. The Government has made representations to Fiance for redress, and the Utter has promised explanations. It assumes that the reports i;rc exaggerated.

REMUNERATIVE PATRIOTISM
GERMAN SHIPBUILDING TRUST,
Berlin, April 10,
The Socialist newspaper Vorwacrts, under the heading •'Remunerative Patriotism,'' prints official documents which show the' existence of a secret trust. 11 states that whenever a manufacturer of shipbuilding materials is asked by a. shipyard for -notations, he forwards particulars to a central office at Dortmund, which puts all who are approached on the matter in communication with each other. They settle a price, which n then quoted, with an increase approximately of 10 per cent. The successful competitor remits 10 per cent, to the central office for distribution among the unsuccessful tenderers.
