THE SYDNEY FERRIES. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, April 7. Five hundred Government employees at Cockatoo Island have refused to pay the increased ferry fares. They have returned their season tickets and arranged for private launches to convey them to work. THE MAWSON EXPEDITION. April 7. At the university commemoration the Governor urged the Commonwealth to send an expedition to bring back Dr. Mawson before- next winter. , WILLIAMS AMUSEMENT COMPANY. Sydney, April 7. The second annual report of the Greater J.D. Williams Company shows a net profit, after deducting all charges and doubtful debts, of £22,084. From this £13,537 was deducted to pay the interim dividends in August, leaving a balance of £9146. It was proposed to transfer £OOOO to the reserve, to provide an additional £SOO for doubtful debts, and to carry forward the balance, £•2046, to the reserve, which is now £ If), 000. The directors are optimistic as to the future, and look forward with confidence to the resumption of dividends as soon as returns are forthcoming from the company's interests in the amalgamated concern.
