General De Wet, at Pretoria, concluded his campaign in the Transvaal in favour of General Ilertzog. General De Wet opposed General Botha's going to England. He said: "Let the British fleet be strong, but not with a ruined South Africa's money; it is disgraceful for the father to be fed by the son."
