Rcefton, Thursday. Tin' electric light power-house was destroyed by fire this mornig at 7 o'clock. Thi' origin of the outbreak is unknown. The engine boiler and turbines of all the machinery can be used again, but the dynamos and other plant are useless. The Fire Brigade's efforts were unavailing, as there is no water laid on now. Tln>r» was no insurance whatever. The damage is estimated at £2OOO. The town is left without lighting. Reef ton, Last Night. Later.—Owing to the stoppage of the electric light plant, the town to-night ia uniighted. All the local shops are sold out of lamps and oil. OFFICES BURNED DOWN. Wairoa, Thursday. A small fire occurred in Delhi street at 1.20 this morning, when a grain store owned by O. Britncll. which was recently converted into offices, was burnt to the crround. The building was occupied by 11. L. Rateliffe. architect, and C. F. Pulley, harbor contractor, as offices. Nearly all the contents were got out. The insurances are not available, the owner being absent in England.

FTRE AT WITANGAREL Whangarei, Last Night. At one o'clock this morning De Toiirret's photographic studio was completely destroyed by fire. Many photographic and kinematographie appliances were burned. Insurance on the stock was £ISOO in the Royal Office, distributed over two buildings. The amount to be paid depends upon the amount of plant and stock in the buildin? destroyed. The building belonged to Mrs. Stead, and was valued at. £OOO, It was insured irti the Commercial Office for £.50. HOUSE DESTROYED AT GISBORNE. Gisborne, Last Night. ■ A five-roomed house at the corner of Aberdeen Road and Herbert street, owned and occupied bv E. 51. Haultham, was gutted by fire to-night. The insurances were £4OO on the house in the South British Office, and £2OO on the furniture in the Royal Office.
