CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT. Postal branch.—Wednesday, December 25, and January 1 (Christmas Day and New Year's Day) will be observed as close holidays. On Thursday, December 26 (Boxing Day), the Post OfSce will b« open in all branches, except Money Order and Saviags Bank, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Telegraph Office.—The Telegraph Office will be open on Wednesday, the 25th inst. (Christmas Day) from" 9.30 to 10 a.m. and from 5 to 5.30 p.m. On Thursday (Boxing Day) and Wednesday (New Year's Day), the hours will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to midnight. Telephone Exchange.—The Telephone Exchange will remain open continuouily. Private box lobby.—Sunday hours will be observed on December 25 and January 1; usual hours on December 26. Mails.—The usual despatch of all mails will be made up to 8 a.m. on each of the holidays; receivers and porting boxes will be cleared accordingly. Travelling Post Office will run ai vasal. Counter.—Delivery of town letter* (ordinary and registered) will be made | on Tuesday evenings, 24th and 31 rt inst., from 8 to 9 p.m. Carriers' deliveries.—One full delivery by letter-carriers will be made on th» 26th inst., commencing at 7.30 a.m. SPECIAL FORM OF TELEGRAPH MESSAGE. In order to facilitate the transmission by telegraph oTt Christmas and Jfew Year's greetings, special printed forms containing the message "Wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year" may be obtained at the Telegraph Office for use on the following dates: . 19th, 20th, 21st, 23rd, 24th, 2flth, 27th, 28th, 30th and 31st December. A uniform charge of sixpence for each such telegram will be made, provid«d the address and signature do not contaia more than words. If, however, the text as printed 5* varied in any way, the telegram will be treated as as ordinary one and chained for accordingly.
