AUCKLAND'S EXPERIMENT. By Telejraph—Press Association. Auckland, December 20. A meeting of the Works Committee of the City Council yesterday decided that so soon as the holidays'are over the new Shelly Beach .baths at Ponsonby should be open at certain fixed hours for family bathing. The Mayor (Mr. C. J. Parr), in referring to 'the fact that the scheme had been so successfully inaugurated in Christchurch, said that there was no reason why it should not be just as successfully introduced here. Strict regulations would have to be observed. No spectators would be allowed in the baths, and no one would be admitted unless accompanied by a member of the opposite sex. The bath officials would see that there was every regard for proprietj'.
