FIGHTING STRIKERS.
A PITCHED BATTLE. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Received 12, 9.15 p.m. New York, December 11. The strikers on the New York-Susque-hannah Railway opened fire on a boat load of strike-breakers from an ambush overlooking the Hudson river. Two detectives were killed, and a dozen strikebreakers wounded. A pitched battle followed. The strikers were compelled to retire, and many were wounded. A FATAL VOLLEY. Received 13, 12.10 a.m. New York, December 12. The militia lias been ordered to the scene of the fight. The strikers first used blank cartridges, and when this was ignored fired a fatal volley.
