_ CHARGE OF BURGLARY By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. A man named Tier was arrested on a charge of burglary at Hill and Sons' premises last night, and remanded today till July 18. Bail was granted in one surety of £l5O. FARMERS' CO-OPERATION. Napier, Yesterday. The Farmers' Co-operative Association made a profit last year of £28,583 12s 7d. The annual meeting decided to pay a dividend of 8 per cent on the paid-up capital, a bonus of 12% per cent, on commission? contributed by shareholders, a bonus of 2 per cent, on goods purchased by shareholders, a bonus of 5 per cent, on salaries, £IOOO was added to the reserve fund, and the balance carried forward. The chairman, Mr. R. D. D. McLean, in congratulating the shareholders, mentioned that twenty-one years ago the association had 100 members; now it had over 1000. Mr. J. W, Harding 1 was elected chairman of directors. 'SLY GROG. Masterton, Yesterday, j At the Court this morning Thomas Lee was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for keeping liquor for sale. FINED FOR GAMBLING. ' Wellington, Yesterday. In the Magistrate's Court to-day John | James Adams, a blacksmith, convicted of having used his business premises as a common gaming house, was fined £5 with costs. The second information that he bad made bets in the shop, a registered factory, was withdrawn. RAIN IN CANTERBURY. Christchurch, Yesterday. Heavy rain has fallen in North Canterbury during the last two days, and the rivers arc in flood. The coach services are interrupted, and the weather is still wet.
